Hello my husband is in Afghanistan and this is going to be our first valentines day apart. I'm clueless on what i should send him for valentines day. I want to send him something cute and a gift but he's very picky and only really likes certain things. I know im going to send him a card with my perfume on it, a box of chocolates but i think there should be something more but i have no idea what. Any suggestions? Thanks (link)
First off, I'd like to thank your husband for his service to our country. I'm sure it is difficult to be apart and I'm glad you are thinking of him and want to make his Valentine's Day special:)

Perhaps you could send him his favorite things, like foods, magazines, or movies, that he can't get in Afghanistan. That shows you know him well.

You could also get him gifts that are cute but entertaining.

I really like this puzzle idea! It's fun and you can personalize it with your message. That website also has a version of monopoly you can personalize to make it romantic, or a rubix cube with your picture on it. This will give him something fun to do and make him think about you.

I like the idea of getting him something soft and cuddly on Valentine's Day, even if he might be a macho solider type :P At Build-A-Bear you can make a bear and dress it in any type of military uniform, and even record a message that he can hear. This way he can hear your voice whenever he wants.

You could get him one of the calendars where you rip off each page to reveal the next day, and place a message on each of the days. Maybe a little story, or an 'I miss you', or a compliment. He can count down the days with you in mind.

You could write a little story, describing your first date or a 'fairy tale' inspired by your marriage. Include pictures and little jokes to make it funny. You two can day dream together about your memories even though you are miles apart.

Lastly, I would load it up with lots of fun candy, confetti, and decorations. You want it to feel like you've brought the party to him. It might seem a little overboard, but the more special the better in my opinion!

What he will love the best is a heartfelt card, which you've already thought of.

I hope you have a good holiday and get to see your husband soon. Best of luck!

-Abby
