For 3 months I'll be away from home on a business trip of sorts, and won't be able to come home for the entire time. I have another 2 weeks before I make the move but have been planning out things I need to bring with me. I know I'm probably missing a lot of things on my list because I've never been away from home for more than just a couple of weeks. So, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions of things I should bring along with me that I might be forgetting to add to my packing list? Thank you. (link)

Without a general list of what you're already decided on it's a little more challenging, but these are the types of things that I have brought on a couple different extended trips away from home:
- Tops on the list is 'memories' of family, friends and loved ones. Pictures are great and a must, but videos are fantastic. If you're going to be gone for 3 months, you're definitely going to want stuff like this.
- In this day and age of computers, we're all more connected than ever before. Even with the Internet and such, you might want to pack some good books or load up your Kindle. Airport waits, TV-Internet outages and the like can leave you in a tough place if you don't have a way to occupy your mind.
I mentioned books because I like to read, but crosswords or whatever YOU like for quiet entertainment would be an important thing.
- I took a cross-country motorcyle trip with my wife years ago, and when she saw what I was packing, commented that "there are Wal-Marts on the planet that we'll be visiting." Point taken, but you still will want a reasonable assortment of clothing for the various weather conditions that you might encounter. Why buy things when you have your own that you know works from having worn it before.
- More or less in the same category, consider toilitries that may not be available where you're going; definitely if you're travelling to another country. 3 months is a long time to pack for, but if you've found a specific deodorant (or something like that) that works especially well for you, pack it up!
I guess that's really about all that I can think of. I hope that you have a great, safe trip!
