There is this boy at my church that I like. I initiated everything, the phone calls, the notes, the eye contact. Which is why I never initiated an actual conversation, that was his job. He never did, though. He could not work up the nerve to talk to me. Ever! He writes me these cute notes, saying I'm his only one, that he gets a huge knot in his stomach when he tries to talk to me. He's on the church worship team and every time he would sing, he would look right at me, like he was singing to me. He had since gotten a girlfriend, talked to her and just asked her out, no problem. Why couldn't he talk to me and ask me out that easily? (link)

It sounds like he feels inferior to you because of how much he likes you, maybe he's afraid he will mess things up. I would ask him the next time you see him why he never initiated a conversation with you, and that you were really looking forward to being able to chat with him. Maybe then he will open up a little bit, and you guys can get to know each other more. Good luck to you on that.
