Q: I love working with children and decided to go into ECE after completing a co-op program in a grade 1 class room. My original goal was to become a Teacher but since I couldn't get into University I decided to start with college but now that I realise how hard it is to get into teachers colege I realise my dream may stop at completing Just the diplome for ECE. I just gto back at my placement at a daycare centre and do not like it, I love the children but the role that the otehr ECE are taking are not my type. I hardly saw them interact with the children and they are JUST babysitting. I became an ECE so as not to JUST babysit. I want to make a difference. my question is to people with experience as ECE, is this how it is, do ece spend the majority of their time setting up activities, snack etc and just let the children choose w/e activity without helping and influencing or suggesting better more meaningful activities. In class I learned so much about helping the child learn and pushing there skills into new skills but at this centre they just sit back and spend all there time doing other things. Is this ther eality of ECE? is this what i will be doing as an ECE????

hay ece...not every center is not like that but if this is not what your looking for then try to make it work for you find something that the kids like to do and teach them through it however you can't call something your dream if your just going to give up on it go back to school and make a difference in your life yes it going to be hard but look at the bigger picture you succeed your goal and your able to help others succeed theirs....tell me how everything goes

Thnx I just don't want to regret choosing the wrong dream...???... i Don'y know I guess im juts confused. I am going to suck it up for the rest of the 2 years and than maybe I will do something else with my diploma but atleast I won't give up. I just don't want to become like those ECE i want to help and I'm gonna have to wait till I graduate and get a job so I can make a change. Right now I just gotta do what they want!

I am me a average gril just like you I have this passion of wanting to help others so I came across this site I hope to seek the answer that you are looking for. I been a writer since I was 6 or maybe 7 started of with songs then traveled on into writing poetry I still do those things, however the reason why I want to become an advice columnist cause their is always someone coming to me and telling me what is going on and ask me how do they handle it I be amazed at how I help them and I start to notice that this happen to me more then once and I should make a carrer out of it. So I been told that I have a gift and if it true then I perfer to share it with you.....
