I'm 17 and female, and I'm really thinking about going on the pill. However, I do NOT want to start taking it because I'm sexually active. I am NOT sexually active and I'm still a virgin.
The reason I want to start it is to regulate my period. I've had it for 4 years now and it has never been regular.
I just don't know how to talk to my mom about it and that is what I need help with. I'm afraid she'll assume that I'm sexually active and think terrible things about me or something...

Do you have a boyfriend? If not, point this out to her when you ask.
If I were you, I'd be subtle and sneaky about asking. It may take longer, and it's a bit embarrassing, but this is what my boyfriend told me to do when I wanted to go on birth control.
Just keep complaining to your Mum about having an irregular period. Make it out to be one of the worst things in your life.
She might then offer to take you to the doctor. If not, say something along the lines of 'hey Mum, this is sort of awkward to ask because of what birth control is really for....but I heard it regulates periods. Is this true?' and go from there.
Where you live, can't you go by yourself anyway? In Australia, as soon as you hit 16 you can go to the doctor without a parent. I was 16 when I did this, and got the birth control pills by myself (yeah I didn't follow my boyfriend's advice)
Anyway good luck, and bc works wonders with regulating periods. Mine was whack for about 4 years as well.
