advice
Okay, so here's the deal. I lost too much weight, I was about 109 pounds in mid-May, so I decided I wanted to gain some weight back; not a lot though, only about 10 pounds or so.
I ended up gaining just about 30 pounds, instead, in that little amount of time (from then to now.)
I fell out of the exercise routine, and started eating bigger amounts (compared to the fact I was only eating about 400 calories a day-yes, I did have an eating disorder.) so I gained too much back. Now I'm trying to lose 15-20 pounds before August 6th, because that's when I'm going away for a week to celebrate my 16th birthday, and I want to be confident and feel good about how I look. Right now, I'm absolutely miserable, because none of my pants fit me, my bras are too tight, my hair is falling out, and I've been having terrible problems with going to the bathroom (fluctuating between constipation and diarrhea, it's been a nonstop problem too.) I need to know EXACTLY what to eat and how much and how many times a day, and I need to know the absolute PERFECT exercises so that I can successfully do this. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me, this is something that I don't feel I can do on my own.
When you starve yourself, your body thinks of it as a starvation period, like animalistic during the early stages of human life, and as soon as the starving period is over, the body ups its appetite. That's why your body put back on the weight. Don't put all the blame on yourself.
You have a good amount of time. 5 weeks. Try for 15 pounds, and if you get more than that, great for you. Thats 3 pounds a week, 3.5 if you want to get closer to your goal.
Although I don't know your height I'd suggest five small meals a day instead of three larger. Of course, the mid-morning and mid-afternoon meals would be smaller than breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Just remember to eat tons of fruits and veggies, a few servings of dairy a day, and low carb, but make sure to add starches and whole wheat to your day. Like, a bowl or two of General Mills cereal should take care of it. Of course, little to no sweets / desserts.
For exercises, you want to concentrate mainly on burning fat first, then toning up- whats the use of having toned muscles if nobody can see them? If it were me, I'd try for the first 4 weeks to meet my 15 pound weight loss goal. That's managable, under 4 pounds per week. I'd concentrate on 2 hours of aerobic exercises a day- try tae bo, exercise tapes, whatever it takes- for 5 or 6 days a week. Make sure to exercises after meals (but not directly after). 1 day a week, do strength training. Go to a gym if you can but if not, get a few copies of Seventeen or CosmoGirl! magazine and see the exercises they put in there to use. The last week, only do 1 or 2 days of aerobics and mainly concentrate on strength training, doing 3 45-minute sets each day.
Good luck hon. I've had weight troubles too-- its always up and down, all starting with an eating disorder-- so if you need any more assistance, feel free to contact me.
(Rating: 5) Thank you so so so much!! You have no idea how helpful that is. My weight is about 135 right now and my height is 5'6". Fruits and vegetables are the two main things I eat, and I've been doing a lot of swimming lately because I know that it burns fat and builds muscle at the same time. I'm probably going to get back into the habit of spin classes again because I used to be big on those. But yeah I need to start doing more time, I've only been going for about 30 minutes a day...But I'll give your plan a try. Thanks again! :)
