I think that the best thing to do is not lie. Enough of that was done when both of you were dating the same guy and not saying anything. If she is truly a special and close friend to you, you should tell her and hopefully you guys will work it out. A friend isnt worth losing over a guy especially one who didnt care enough to not go out with his girls best friend.
