So I've had problems with socializing over the past...eh...year?
The last time I hung out with friends outside of school was last year.
We hung out two Friday nights in a row & they never mentioned it to me again...keep in mind, these are still my friends.
Yeah.
Anyway, I'm trying to figure out how I can make friends outside of school because you know how highschool is. There are cliques that are already established by sophomore year & once you leave one, it's heard to really get in with another. Yeah, that's where I am.
I'm planning on getting a job this summer. This doesn't totally answer the question, though, because I'm the shyest person I've met...ever. So, recap...my questions are:
-Where can I meet people asap?
-How can I further develop social skills?
-I'm assuming you may mention small-talk when answering the question above...how do you do small-talk without sounding like you're so awkward that you must resort to small-talk?
Keep in mind, I'm 16.
I have had the same problem. before i made some better friends at school, my best friends were made on a club soccer team. the summer job is also a really good idea, a surefire way to make friends. as for social skills, you learn by experience, trial and error, so the best thing you can do is just talk to people and dont feel like your awkward the whole time or you will be. and small talk is the start of all friendships, just go with it. and maybe you should invite some of your friends out as a group, dont assume they dont want to hang out with you. also, keep in mind there are always kids looking for friends, even if it doesnt seem like it. open yourself up to people you havent talked to or dont know. good luck and if you have any other questions feel free to ask :)
