Hi im 17/f and my ex boyfriend is 19/m. I recently charged him with stalking and he sent me threatening e-mails to kill me. I got a restraining order today and it was accepted. I hear he went to jail earlier today but now is out and has a court hearing on tuesday. I know i have to go, or its a good thing to do. His dad is a prison guard and also is going to the hearing in behalf of my ex boyfriend. Im really scared. what is going to happen? Will they make me answer questions? Its all very scary can someone please tell me whats gonna happen?
THANK YOU! (link)

I found your question alarming and very serious.
And a great question to ask!
Fisrt I can say without question, VIOLENCE isnt right in any manor.
This young man at point was your boyfriend, if he truely cared about you, You know that its crazy for him to think of causing you harm. Right?
I am not sure what state your in however in California, for a victim to be present isnt nessasary, unless a judge says otherwise- in that youll be notified. Other wise with the restraining order you are protected- A judge signed it.
Either way Most likely the District Attorney will fight for whats right.
You can also get more certain info by contacting the district attorney's office in your area, or the police station even- they will at least point you in the correct direction.
If you are to scared, you can always have a close friend or family member go, and see what the judge has to say.
I'd go and show my face to make sure he knows your not playing games, and are very serious that you will not put up with his abuse. Bring some one with you. There's no way he can hurt you from jail.
Standing up for whats right is very impowering, and also shows other people that they need not be afraid of whats right.
I hope you feel alittle better, I know its seems like a lot. It will pass.
Good luck to you, and please stay strong!
