My boyfriend recently lost a lot of weight, because he was ill.
Problem is, he was already almost underweight.
Now he's 5'6 and 110 lbs.
We both agree that he needs to get back to his old 130, at least, he looks sickly now.
Does anyone on here have any ideas as to how he could gain this weight back in a healthy manor? (link)
Glad I stumbled onto this question,
here's my suggestion, since I once went through something similiar.

1. Because of his current weight/health, tell him to avoid foods like cake and cookies. That really won't help him, he needs to gain muscle and protein, not fat.
2. Buy him or ask him to buy foods like:
-Nut bars (Chewy Bars)
-Milk cans (Like those sport/calorie ones for sprinters)
-Some fruit (apples, blueberries, oranges)
-Steak, meat, some chicken (avoid stores like KFC or cheap nuggets from McDonalds!!!)
-Gatorade (maybe once every 2-3 days)

Foods he should very well AVOID:
-High Energy drinks (this can make him feel lightheaded or faint if he's not careful. Especially at his current weight)
-Fast Food stores (Burger King/McDonalds)
-Cake
-Soda (in large amounts, some is fine)
-Candy, chocolate (Like I said, some is ok)
-Coffee (anything like this that can drain his energy and make him sick)

Other things to avoid:
-Intense running/sprinting
-Intense sports

I'd follow a routine like this for the next 3-4 weeks. And soon, your boyfriend will be back to the way he was.
Just take things a little slow. Once he gains some weight, maybe get him to jog once a week for a 10 mins.

After that, he should feel great.
