im in a white family, and my mom is raceist. my best friend is black, n i showed my mom my group picture of before homecoming, and she was like omg who is that n poined to her n im like ..thats sammy my best friend. now she doesnt trust me at all and keeps askin if shes comin whenever i go somewhere. im staying friends with her wether my mom likes it or not, but what can i do i hate this? i dont see anything wrong with people from different races bein best friends and neither does sammy. only my mom does. im 14/f shes 15/f
Sadly enough, People who are rasict to other races are always those who grew up to believe the southern white people always mantain a higher standard then any other race. As so, this is the reason this world has war. You need to let your mom know that you are hanging out with sammy, wither she likes it or not. The fact of the matter is not that you cant hang with sammy but to show your mother that we arent living in the 70's anymore, or before that. That the rasict period already left us and she needs to let it leave her aswell. What shes doing/saying is wrong on many levels, and she needs to learn to accept people and set a better example for her daughter/children.
Talk to her about it. Let her know it isnt right, and that your right, things worth it in life are things worth fighting for.
