does anyone have some good fund raising ideas. The arts classes at my school are taking a trip to NYC in june and...we aren't exactly a rich school. also, we aren't all fund raising together. it's kind of a single effort but a group of like 6 of my friends would be willing to fund raise together. anyway, the trip is $1,330 at least and the first deadline is in 2 weeks for $300. My mom's chaperoning so i'll need twice that much. i will loooooove you forever if you have some out-of-the-box fund-raising ideas for me. :) (link)
The best fund raiser i ever saw (and most successful) was a basket raffle. Basically you have people donate items to place in themed baskets such as a chocolate basket, a car supply basket, etc. If multiple classes get involved you put a box in each room and ask them to bring items of a particular theme. (Ms Jones class brings in bath items, Ms. Smith's brings in tools You put the items in the basket, wrap it in cellophane and set them where lots of people will see them. Print up a lost of the baskets and have people sell tickets. Allow people to register for the basket they want. You wind up having a ticket drawn for each basket. If your school is game for it you can have a money basket! 1 dollar or 5 or so of each ticket sold for the money basket goes into the basket. Work it so that you keep half or a third of the money for the money basket. Chocolate and money baskets are the best sellers. Run it for at least two weeks but a month would work better. You could plan for 2 weeks for people to bring in items and then l month of selling tickets making it a month and a half fund raiser.
