my boyfriend was feeling really down because he has a temporary depression. i prayed to God (i'm Christian) and asked if he could make my bf happy and i implied that i'd do anything just to see him happy, even give up my happiness for his. A week later he dumped me and i've never seen him happier. i'm hurt and i'm just wondering if you think it's the work of God or just a weird coincident. (link)

Aww hun I'm sorry your boyfriend broke up with you. I think my opinion differes a lot from the other responses. You prayed that your boyfriend would be happy, and now he his. It is too bad that this entailed breaking up with you, but if there is one thing I know, its that God has a greater plan for us than what we understand.
Who knows? You ex could have been struggling for a while, he could have been confused if dumping you was the wrong thing, if you would be hurt. I believe that it was your selfless act to ask for his happiness that lead the promptings of the spirit to help him feel secure in his decision.
I believe God answers your prayers. Remember "Ask and it shall be given, seek and ye shall find, knock and it will be opened unto you." It was your faithfulness in Christ that lead to your ulitmate goal, for your bofriend to be happy. Please, never forget that God is there to comfort you. If you pray with the same faithfulness, I know you will be able to be comforted, and again feel the joy and love of Christ.
God moves in mysterious ways, but each of these ways is to help you grow and achieve eternal life, "which gift is the greatest of all the gifts of God."
