How wide do they open up your vagina in a pap smear and does it hurt? (link)

Hi,
this is a common question. The gyn opens your vagina just wide enough so that they can see into the entire insides of your vagina and your cervix which is the mouth of your uterus. They then scrape some of the cells from your uterus which does not hurt and they are done.
If anything it maybe a little uncomfortable, but when you get used to it, it will be alright. Don't worry. I hope I helped.
