It might just take more time for it to stop hurting for you. You may have a small vagina.
As far as masturbating goes, I wouldn't knock it before you try it :D you can learn better what you like and what feels good to you, and find out for yourself what it takes to make you climax (this could be clitoral or vaginal stimulation, or both).
