Okay my cousins have this kid that is one year old. And i am 15, but i am beginning to worry. Her parents pretty much ignore her and let her run wild. And she has gotten into the habit of screaming and biting. When you try to change her diaper she rolls and reaches up and tries to bite you and screams at the top of her lungs. And the wont whip her or put her in time out they just say no. and when they do hit her they are too lazy so they throw something small at her to get her attention and tell her no or they hit her on the head. I am wanting to take things into my own hands because they wont do anything. How can we get her to stop screaming and biting and stay still when we change her. I have tried putting her in time out. And it worked...once. Then i told her what she did and why she was there. I told her if she did it again i would put her back in the chair for 5 more minutes. Am i doing this right?? (link)

Hello.
Well parenting is very opinion based. People debate over and over how to punish children, but I dont think thats the main problem here..you said her parents ignore her. Should child protective services be notified of this? You shouldnt have to be a nanny or a second mother for that child because if the biological parents lack providing basic needs I think some kind of authority should be informed.

Oh no its not like that. They are just young and if she starts screaming or something they dont want to deal with her so they will put her in her crib or in a play pen. They are getting better, its just they dont really discipline her. They baby her when she dont get her way, (the biting) and they just refuse to take any action against her and i am beginning to get worried.
