advice
ok this is really random but yeah. you know those screamo songs where people scream? like the screamo scream? WHILE they are singing? does anyone know how to do that? because i really wanna be a musician. and i want to scream. im 15/f,btw. but yeah. any tips? im welcome to any advice.
thanks.
EDIT: yeah it's hard to explain, using your diaphragm to sing means bringing the air from lower in your body, rather than your throat. Your belly will move in and out and your abdominal muscles will tighten, your chest shouldn't rise and fall much. It takes practice, that's for sure, search for techniques on google if you're still interested in learning.
I don't think it's really something you could learn how to do properly through reading a 'how-to', if you really want to learn how then you'll probably want to get a vocal coach [though I don't know how many would be willing to teach you], or find someone in a band that has been doing it for a while, someone with experience.
Drink a lot of water before and after you try. You'll be getting the air for your scream from your diaphragm, not your throat. That way you will lessen the risk of damaging your vocal chords, which is very easy to do when practicing the metal/screamo/hardcore style of music. That's why you see people from bands like The Used and Avenged Sevenfold having to postpone tours-their voice gets stressed and damaged from all the screaming.
Basically, find a vocal coach or someone in a band. That way you won't kill your voice like you might if you don't know what you're doing.
(Rating: 4) great, thanks! but, everyone says to use your diaphram and im wondering "what the hell does that MEAN?!?" soo...explain?
