Q: what does an asthma attack feel like?
what causes it?
thanks!
A person who has asthma has inflamed airways which makes them very sensitive. The airways react very easily from a number of things including exercise, a cough, irritation or being around something you have an allergy to. When this happens, the muscles around the airways contract and less air can move through. They swell even more and the cells in the airways create more mucus. This makes the airways even more constricted and very hard to breathe. During an asthma attack, for a short period of time, you can't take in any air or let any out. It is very scary. Asthma is hereditary but that is not the only cause. You can also develop asthma from smoking, lung infections, being surrounded by allergens: animal hair, dust mites, pollen, mold... or irritants: air polution, weather change, strong odors or stress. I hope I helped. My information was obtained from my own asthma experiences and: www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/dci/Diseases/Asthma/Asthma_WhatIs.html

thankss!
