Q: I went to the doctor a few days ago & they found this lump on the side of my knee. They doctor said he thought it was some type of cyst that they could either remove or give me some type of shot, but I'm having an MRI wednesday just to make sure.
I don't get it, though. How can a shot get rid of it? & I run track starting in a week or so. If they do surgery, does that mean I can't run track?

I jus got three cysts removed from my tailbone a little over two weeks ago. Mind did not penetrate my skin so when the surgeon removed them, he did not stitch me. He has been havin me pack it with gauze, remove it, and repack it until the wound heals. This is so the cysts won't grow back. If i didnt get the surgery and if you indeed have a cyst, then at any time it can come through your skin. It will get really large and fill with fluid. This will be really painful. The worst part is if this does happen, you will need to go to the hospital so they can cut it so it can drain it and they will not numb you or knock you out first. They will just cut you. There is no telling when it will come through your skin, but it definitely will. There are no ways to get rid of cysts besides surgery, so im not sure what your doctor was talking about with the shot. Definitely ask him. If it is a cyst, please get the surgery done right away so at least you'll be in less pain then them having to cut you when your conscious. You will be in too much pain to run and you will be told not to until you the wound heals. Your health is more important then track though, so you need to take action to take care of yourself; make sure you dont have to deal with the worse. I hope you don't have to go through what i am still going through. Whatever the lump is, I hope you take care of it and that you heal quickly and successfully so you can get back to running. Good Luck. I wish you the best and if you need anything else im here.

My advice is based on my experiences, my morals, my values and what I would do if I were the advice seeker. I always put myself in your shoes and look at all sides of the story. I love updates, so please inbox me to let me know how everything turned out because I worry about you! Some lessons I hope to teach all include: *Always stand up for what you believe in *Never give up *Fight for those who would fight for you *Don't hold back your feelings because you're afraid of getting hurt; you wind up getting hurt anyway *Don't follow your dreams- chase them *Appreciate the things you have *Always put others before yourself *It's always ok to feel, but it's not always ok how you react to those feelings *Learn from yesterday live for today and hope for tomorrow
