Does anyone know where I can download a safe, free DVD ripper?
It needs to be safe.
(I know most aren't free, so maybe one with a sample or something)

Try Videora, it may work for you, depending on your intentions of what you want to do once you rip the DVD. Videora converts the DVD to iPod format, but I'm pretty sure you can just change the profile of it to rip to any format. Look here for a guide and download options: http://www.videora.com/
