Q: I really love to look good. I like to be liked, and find my confidence to be sky high when I know that I look really nice. But if I ever check my make-up at school, or glance at a mirror to smooth my hair, my friends sigh, roll their eyes, and make rude comments. I only check in the bathroom or after lunch hour. I think it's totally natural for me to want to look good, and how should I know if I never check, and simply leave mascara smudged under my eyes and ignore cowlicks? It may seem a silly question, but it's important to me, and people think that I'm completely vain and superficial. The weird thing is that my friends that make these comments have bad hairdays all the time and make make-up mistakes. Why should I be called vain for wanting people to think that I look nice?
Everyone really loves to look good. Other people may not contribute as much time to it as you do, though.

Your friends with bad hair days and make up mistakes....they sound...not jealous....maybe down.

If you look "really nice" then your friends can end up feeling ugly or not good enough next to you. Its happened to me before. Ugly Sidekick Syndrome =X its a nasty disease.

Its no reason for them to try and knock you down a few pegs though. I don't suggest telling them they have ugly sidekick syndrome, or anything like that. Just when they make comments, joke about it. So much can be forgotten by just laughing things off that its unreal.

If they really are your friends then they don't really want to hurt you.

OR if you want to look at it in a completely different light-

maybe they're tired of waiting for you to get ready in the bathroom? Maybe its happened a lot of times and they're fed up? MAYBE they're tired of your hair and make up taking up so much time at school...the time they have with you?

I suggest either laughing it off or avoiding school mirrors for a while. Having smudged mascara or cowlicks won't make people think differently of you. And if they do....well do you really need the opinion or love of someone so TRULY superficial?

thank you

Hiiiiiiii.

I'm spookykiwi.
I know a lot of weird things, about a lot of weird things. Things I don't even remember learning about. Things I probably shouldn't know given my age. Teenager stuff. Pervo stuff. Misc nobody-cares stuff. Computer stuff. Love stuff. Friend stuff. General knowledge stuff. How-the-hell-do-I-know-that stuff.

Sooo. Yeah. If you have a question under any of those categories LOL feel free to ask. I don't bite. Or nip even.
