I am starting high school and i am really nervous! Does anyone have any tips or things they want to share? It can be about friends, boys, hair, clothes, grades, teachers, anything! I need lots of advice because I am very worried! Thanks! (link)

I will be a junior this fall and really there's nothing special about highschool, I'm more excited about college, get on with building up my nursing career, but enough about me.
Friends> This really important. Most kids make their four year friends in the first few months of freshman year. Not all, but some. You wanna pick the friends that you think have good values and won't distract you from your school work. And try to go to them, not let them come to you. I made this mistake in my freshman year. I got into the wrong crowd. My best friends were a theif/liar and a slut. I never did anything though, I just hanged out with them. However last year the slut left and I stopped hanging out with the other one. Know I have the coolest and way nice friends. Remember just because some kids are the rebels, cool kids you know, doesn't mean it's good to get into their crowd.
Boys> Once again like friends. Try to make friends with them. They are a lot easier to get along with than girls. Stay away from the ones who are saying anything to get your heart, but have a reputation of being a player. Most freshmen guys won't be like this, it's most likely to be the older students. And also don't try to keep up with the crowd by kissing and ect; just because everyone else is doing it. Remember if you get into a relationship don't let it distract it from your studies. A lot of students get into this situation in high school.
Hair&Clothes> Just dress how you want to dress. Some people go all sterotype in high school, some dress slutty, some dress sophisticated(in a teenager way lol). Me? I try to dress maturely with a chick twist. Magazines like CosmoGirl!, Seventeen, and TeenVogue have tons of back to school articles about clothes and hair and makeup. Remember there are enough trashy girls in high school, we don't need another one.
Grades> Probably the most important part in high school that no one really remembers. This is your final step to building a career and starting your life. Yes, there are lots of..distractions, but you have to be serious when it's time to work. Don't slack off or you will wind up in summer school or repeating the year. (I had summer school for math freshman year, NOT FUN) Remember I'm not saying not to have a life, but just make sure you put a lot of effort into your studies. Don't stress too much though, freshmen are not expected to be perfect, I mean you are just ajusting to a new school and all.
Teachers> Don't be a teachers pet, but don't be a jerk either. One the first day you will get a lecture about the course and materials to bring. Be sure to bring those materials everyday, teachers hateee when you aren't prepared. Make sure your work is done in time and you arrive to class on time. Math is really important to get to each day because every day builds on yesterdays lessson. Take lots of notes and have some sort of organizer than you can write due dates and quiz/test dates. Remember if you are slacking in a subject or want more credit for a certain course, take advantage of extra credit. Either do the assigned or ask. Teachers won't mind. They'd actually be happy you want to do better.
-Take advantage of sports or clubs. It's a great way to meet new people who are interested in things you are.
-Try doing some volunteering with your high school. This is great for college applications and gets you ready for the real world.
Be wary of peer pressure. Stay away from drugs and certain parties that you know will have some bad "things" going on at it.
For my final piece of advice: Remember to be yourself. Don't change for anyone. Some say high school days are the best days of your life (I have to disagree though). Just make the best of it. Pay close attention to your work, have fun with friends, and make good judgement.
