when you had a best friend that became your boyfriend, is it possible to become boyfriend to best friend again? =/

i dont know. i lost my best guy friend that way. he wanted to go out but i knew it wouldnt work and after the break up it would be akward.so i said no. but even after that i kept thinking," whats he thinking..." it was so akward knowing he liked me i moved.=(
