advice
Well, I'm starting high school for the first time this August, and no, I'm not going to be in ninth grade; I will be a junior. (I was homeschool through middle school and my first two years of high school.) This will all be sooo new to me, and needless to say, I AM FREAKED OUT!!!
First of all, because everyone in my grade has known each other for at least two years, they will all have friends, and the first day of school will probably consist of everyone saying hello to their friends that they hadn't seen for the whole summer. I am scared that I will have a hard time making friends because everyone else already knows each other pretty well.
I don't want to start out school as a loner, because, well, nobody wants to be friends with a loner.
And to make matters worse, there will be this random single day where we will have yearbook pictures, and then the official first day of school will be a few weeks later.
How do I make friends? I don't have a goal to be popular, but it would be nice to have a few friends, especially during the first few weeks of school where life would be the hardest because its such a new environment for me. I'm a little shy so it would be hard (and wierd) for me to just come up to random groups of people and introduce myself. I could never do that. What I prefer is to have people approach me. That would make life perfect =)
Oh, and just a quick important note. One, is that high schoolers always kind of intimidate me. Like they always look so bitchy and mean, and like they will judge you. (I know it's not true, it just seems like it). And second, I'm not some de-socialized, religious, nerdy homeschooler, so I'm not (that) wierd. I'm super nice, mostly quiet, sometimes hyper, smart, not ugly, not drop dead gorgeus, and giggle ALOT.
Any advice on the first day of my junior year? Are all my assumptions true? (about how almost everyone will be in groups on the first day of school, etc). What should I expect?
Thank you for reading all this, any feedback will be appreciated =)
If you have been homeschooled, I want to know, did you have friends? Or did you just sit at home? If you have a friend that youv talked to since you last went to school, then go to school with them.
If you have a Myspace, Start talking to some of the people from your school on there. And ask them some things.
If not then dress super nice/cute, and smile and have a good attitude, dont have a scared one. That will only make things with other people, not want to come up to you. But if you sitting there smiling, im sure someone will come up to you.
And you are right about the group thing. I have my own group and first day of school, we're all together again.
Everyschool has those stuck up chicks that seem super mean, but i found out last year if you talk to them then their not all the stuck up.
Hope I helped and i hope you have a great first day =]
(Rating: 4) Lol, I have friends. Most of them go to another school though, and I only know one girl at my new school but she's in the grade below me, but we are close enough to sit at lunch together. Thanks so much for your advice!
