what would count as mental or emotional abuse from parents?

Mental/emotional abuse would be anything said or done that would make you feel like less of a person. My example: You fail at something like a class, test, or a sports game. & your parents say that you will never succeed at anything in life. Anything said that is extremely negative that brings down your self esteem would be that form of abuse.
