I have a crush on this guy that is in my english class. We are total opposites, but i cant help but to like him. I mean, he is popular, and I am just plain normal. I dont know him very well, but i really want to get to know him. Only, I am scared that he is a jerk (most popular kids in my school are). So anyways, any advice on how to make him notice me?

First- Don't let the fact that you two are completely different discourage you. All of the guys I have gone out with have been all completely different from me and each other and it works out greatly.
Second- I would say just talk to him. Pretty basic, I know, but that is the first step. Maybe raise your hand a lot and show him how brilliant you are. This may sound corny but ask to borrow a pencil or something.
