Im 17 and i live in Maine. a year ago i lived in florida. I have my florida drivers permit but honestly i dont know the second thing about driving. I know how to start the car. I have been begging my dad to take me driving. Im desperate.
He tells me no not until you learn how to.
Up here in maine to get your permit you have to take drivers ed. And no you cant take it in school you have to pay $375 to take the course and im not lying. I told him ill take the course if he payed. He tells me no hes not paying because im the one that wants to drive. My mom tells him that its the parents responsbility to pay for the course. He totally disagrees and when ever that subject gets brought up he gets pissed.
My brother is 15 and he is all ready to pay for him to take the course. And i dont understand that.
I have the information and everything for this class but i cant get my mom to call to get information. How do i get her to call without throwing the phone at her?
Also should i have to take the drivers ed course up here to get a maine permit if i already have had my florida permit for over a year?

Hey :). Well it's not exactly fair that he's willing to pay for your brother but it may be because he knows your brother is starting out fresh and new at driving. You've already been there, done that and still don't know to much so he doesn't want to waste money on a course that he's not sure if you have to take. Now believe me I'm not saying it's your fault at all my friend because no one can retain all these things on driving (as if I had to tell you :)) haha I bet I'll be so lost when I start driving :). But, this may be the case. It sounds like your mom is all about getting you more into driving and figures, hey why not let her get better? And in this case they're both right. I would just ask your mom if you could talk one day and explain to her how much you really want to do this. Tell her that you've already gathered all the information to make it simple for her and all she has to do is call. Say please mom if Billy (just using a fake name for your brother lol) can take the course I don't understand why I can't since I am older and want this so badly. Of course before you waste all that money you can find out if you still have to take the course since you already have your permit. I'm not quite sure if you would have to because all states are different and I live in New Jersey. I hope I helped you at least a little :-).

yea you did. but the thing is the only person that has every let me drive was my grandpa and that was the first day i got my permit since then i havent been able to get anyone to let me drive. And trust me if im a good driver to my grandpa then im a really good driver.
