okay i asked the question about the quadratic formula before. i'm in Trig 2/Geometry right now. i remember that it negative square roots are "i" but i remember part of the problem
i don't know the first number so i'm going to pretend that it is "7" (because i think that is what it is but i'm not 100 percent sure)
7 + or - the square root of -29. then all over 2. so what do i do? i know that i have to come up with 2 answers to the problem. one for 7 + the square root of -29 all over 2. and one for 7 - the square root of -29 all over 2. so how do i do this?
is this right:
7 + or - i root 29 all over 2.
would that be my answer?

Sorry I didn't get back to you on this one immediatly, I logged off just before I got your question. I hope I can explain this to you in a way you can understand, I hate math, I just happen to be good at understanding and re-teaching.
Okay, if you have 7+ or - the square root of -29, you would first see if you can simplify the square root of -29 down any farther by seeing if any perfect squares go into it, which it doesn't since 29 is a prime number. You would get 7 + square root of -29 / 2 and 7- square root of -29 / 2. I don't think you can simplify the square root of -29 down to 29i since there is no perfect squares that go into 29, you would just leave it as is.
I could be wrong on that one, I haven't done this since Algebra 2 which was last year.
