what is a dot book? because i need one for my sport.
Well, if you're in marching band or colorguard you usually have a dotbook. If you've ever been to a marching band competition or seen a marching band perform, every individual person has their own different spots on the field, or their "dots" on the field. Of course, the people in the marching band don't randomly go to these different spots, it's an arranged formation. To know where your "dot" is, you are given coordinates on the football field. For example, if your coordinates say "Two steps inside 35, 3 steps in front of back hash on side B," you go to the 35 on the right side of the football field(right side if you're facing the field, left side if you're on the field) and go to the back hash on the 35 yard line. Then, take 3 steps from the back hash down the 35 and after you've done that, take two steps inside towards the right of the 35 yard line. There are also different "sets" and every different "set" you have a coordinate like that. For my marching band show there are more than 60 sets in each show. A dot book is where you write these coordinates, what set you're in, and any other information you need, like how many counts the set is. A dot book is usually a small notepad about the size of an index card with maybe 75 pages or more. It may seem hard to understand at first, but it gets easier. Just ask someone for help. I remember the first time I had a dotbook I didn't understand anything but I figured it out really quickly. Just remeber to always bring a pencil with you when you're writing in a dotbook. Good luck. =)
