This is not a hard computer question so don't get scared away - on my laptop, when I leave or go somewhere I wanna leave AIM up and stuff. To do this I have to leave my laptop open but my dad wants me to close the lid because it's healthier for the computer or something. When I do that, it logs me off (which I don't care about) but it also shuts off AIM. Is there anyway to adjust anything on the computer so that AIM will stay on when I shut the lid? Thanks.

Usually when you close your laptop lid, the computer automatically goes into hibernation mode or stand by. And when it does that, your AIM automatically signs off. For some reason my laptop is screwed so when i close my laptop lid and open it later, it's still open on my desktop... but i dont think theres a way to adjust anything on the computer so that you can stayed logged on AIM after you close your laptop lid. sorry.
