im 13/f and whenever i go swimmin i get a little darker and i like my skin tone the way it is how do i go swimmin and still not get a tan? (link)
You can use a large shirt or cute coverup to shield some parts of your body from the sun but when you actually go in the water, make sure to wear at least SPF 30, SPF 45 is probably the best, to shield the harmful UVA/UVB rays. Even though some formulas say that they are waterproof, after you get out of the water, re apply the sunscreen. Also, even ifyou don't get in the water, re apply your sunscreen about every 2 hours for maximum protection. Protection from the sun will help the sun's rays temporarily changing your skin tone.
