Idk if i may be much of a help but i totally have the same problem..and it sucks becasue we have dead silences..but i found out one thing that wokrs it to find something bot of you have in common..hmm does he like to 2-wheel? every guy does.. hmm snowboarding ..try sports skaeboarding guitar? hobbies maybe if he doe splay guitar just to spend time with him you could ask if he could teach you? and if he's shy also just keep bringing up things and ask him how his lifes going if he says nothing joke about it and tell him "Oh come on you have nothing going on in your life?" something like that or if you guys get an awkward silence..dont be nervous and say it out loud like a joke be like" wow this is awkward" and then you guys will end up laughing so yea just be yourself and try not to be nervous
