I've tried soo hard to do this but i cannot figure out how the hell people do it.
What i want to know is how ppl make a picture black and white and make one thing a different color?
heres a picture of what im talking about:

a slightly different way is:
1 - do your selection of what you want to be left alone.
2 - either invert your selection or copy it to a separate layer so the bit you want isn't edited.
3 - then depending on your program, (either keeping the inverted selection or selecting the full layer) you need to either decrease the saturation or "desaturate" it.
simple :)
You may need o play with whether you need to use anti-aliasing before doing the selection or not. This changes how hard the selection is.
