about

I'm a girl, 15, generally use good grammar (yay!), and a huge fan of sarcasm though I know when it's appropriate and when it isn't. Politics, psychology, philosophy, and history all fascinate me. The music I like usually falls under the genres of psychedelic and classic rock. I hate rap. And George W. Bush. I like giving advice because it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that other people are crazier than I am.
Ask away, I'll try to answer anything!

Alright. Well, my best friend in the whole world is starting to confuse me. She is a real big Christian, as am I, and I understand that. But sometimes when I turn on the radio and like rap or something comes on, shes like "God doesn't want you listening to that." But then she will go to a party and dance to that same music. We are in 6th grade and she is dating an 8th grader, I'm pretty sure God doesn't want her doing that either. How do I explain to her that its ok to listen to the music you like or the shows you like?
Plz help! I will rate 5 to any resonable answer!
Tell her that even if she doesn't want to listen to that sort of music, she has no right whatsoever to try to place restrictions on what you can and cannot do and use religion as a basis for it. Religion is a personal experience, not something you should try to impose on others. Also just tell her that you won't interfere with what she chooses to do as long as she doesn't dictate to you what you're not allowed to do. Friendship is about loving and accepting people as they are, and once someone is trying to unjustifiably (ie if you're not doing something that could directly harm yourself or others) reform the other, there's something wrong.
Good luck, hope you work this out, and sorry if my answer was a bit rambling!
