First off, I wish my average rating thing was my GPA. Heh.

I'm a girl, 15, generally use good grammar (yay!), and a huge fan of sarcasm though I know when it's appropriate and when it isn't. Politics, psychology, philosophy, and history all fascinate me. The music I like usually falls under the genres of psychedelic and classic rock. I hate rap. And George W. Bush. I like giving advice because it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that other people are crazier than I am.

For my English class, I'm supposed to select three current issues, and talk about each one. It's a research essay, where I'm going to need a quote for each issue as well.

The problem is...I'm not into current issues at all. I don't read the news, and I'm not properly educated. The examples she gave us were: racism, poverty, the war in Iraq, domestic or foreign terrorism, international relations, obesity, global warming, the national debt, ect). All of these political things, I would NOT be able to talk about. I know nothing about them. So I'm thinking of picking easier topics, such as racism...and maybe 2 others. I can think of Same-sex marriage and Abortion to write about, but I don't want to do either of those. Does any one have any other ideas on easy current issues that an uneducated person like me could write about? It doesn't have to be 'school appropriate' because I am out of high school and in college. I just have no idea what issues are going on in America, except for of course the war, but I don't want to write about that. Thank you very much for any suggestions.

I just did a research paper for English on the Death Penalty (Captital Punishment). Its a great topic because while I was personally against it, there are so many facts/ studies done on it both ways and its quite easy to take a stand about it.

Gun Control is a good topic too, watch the movie Bowling for Columbine.

Legalization of Marijuana is good too, theres a lot of controversy surrounding it now, I'm sure you'd be able to find out a lot of facts for and against it.

The war...I don't know what your stance on it is, but I'm personally against it and would say that its primary purpose isn't for liberation of the Iraquis, its just for maintaining an oil source for the United sates.
