Why do Americans who have some Irish ancestry in them feel the need to be all proud about it? Some of these people are 2nd or 3rd greneration Americans and have never even left the country. (link)

I'm considerable somewhat Irish and I'm not "all proud" or obsessed or anything but I AM still proud. They have more to be proud of than drinking like you say. There is many things to be proud of, like the beautiful country in general. But its not all good... alot of people are pale that are irish and since "tan" aka being orange but thinking your tan, is in then the pale people are just sort of left to a decision. That is either to be proud of who you are and the skin your in OR try to be fake tan. I prefer the first one.
But besides that, anyone should be proud of their heritage! You wouldn't be you without it. Alot of people are proud of theres like African Americans, all sorts of people that have ancestors from Central America, and definatly ITALIANS. Oh and also Germans and Czechs.
