Does anyone know any good books for teens that are kinda like the princess diaries or the sisterhood of the traveling pants series. i have run out of good books to read. help!!!! (link)

There is much more as I should have pointed out to the letter writer to Chronicles of Narnia than you think. It is not a kids book and before Harry Potter was widely read and even studied. There are a lot of religious undertones and hidden messages in it. You could say the same of Alice in Wonderland.

The books you mentioned before are not written for eighth graders or college level. If you in fact can read college level books then do it. Why read this books even if liked them? You are not challenging yourself academically. You may be able to read at a college level but if you cannot think, ponder, and reflect on books written at that level reading them will do you no good.

If you want to read at a college level as an eighth grader start reading those books. Try Grisham, try the Davinci Code, try something other than Sisterhood of The Raveling Pants no matter how good it was. There you go--once again challenge yourself and learn from the work of those writers how to write yourself and how to think.

If you read classics which I doubt from your rather snarly feedback letter that is good. I would in writing this like to challenge people to think, read, read 3 newspapers daily and actually learn before college how to write well. Right now, society is not fulfilling that mission and helping teens and kids to read and write at high levels. Learn grammar too. Use books to teach you tricks about writing.

Enough of my rant. I am not a teacher, prof. etc but did graduate from Journalism school only to see 50% of those who enrolled drop out, profs. discover they could not write, spell, read properly etc. Only 11 people graduated who started myself being one of them. I would like to see therefore people reading books that challenge and make you think. If you have college level anything including reading get materials for that age group and use them to excel.

If you want adult adventure books go and get them. They may not be about a princess but the quality of work, thinking, page turning, pondering and reflection someone of your gifted level must do is what is important. To excel in Grade 8 to advance farther using your intellect and books is what you ought to be doing.

Read those other books on the side and actually strat reading newspapers, online content, books, and material for adults and see why there are many biases and that not all that gets reported is exactly what you think.
