This might be stupid, because it happened to long ago but I want peoples opinions about it. I'm 15 female, & my sisters 22 female.

My mom has been on asthma ever since she was a young girl, and one night in June 2005 I wake up to her coughing an over amountage & weezing [deep breathing] I was super worried because I didn't know what to do, so I woke my sister up & had her come in my mom's room, my mom started throwing up because she was coughing so much, & she couldn't breath, so we decided we were going to take her to the hospital, because that's the only choice we really had. At this time my dad was living away, but my parents don't hate each other or anything, it's just he moved & they we moved a couple months later. But anyways, when we decided we would take my mom to the hospital my sister goes into her room, changes from her pajamas to regular clothes & then says shes ready!!

I didn't even care what I looked like, I didn't want to waste anytime because I knew that my mom had a hard time breathing, and it must be horrible to have that problem. But, my sister changed and that's what made me really mad, because it just seems like she doesn't care what happened to my mom in that 3 minutes. Blah, well basically I was just wondering, don't you think that that's wrong? I know I shouldn't be worrying about it now, because my mom's perfectly fine now but I just can't stop thinking about it.

Automatic 5's just for reading. Thanks a bunch =P (link)
Well first of all I would say she needs to see the doctor again. Her medication dose may not be strong enough. Secondly, a food allergy can cause this to happen as well. Third, it is important for you to remain calm no matter how scared you are. The body has what is simular to a backup device. If she stopped breathing from panic or anxiety caused by a dream or stress, it would automatically take over the second she stopped breathing. What you can do till you get help or arent sure how serious the problem is at the time is this. First calm your mother down. When you cant breathe you tend to panic and that causes you to lose more air. Secondly, if it is an asthma attack, steam helps, so run the shower on extreme hot water and let the room get steamy and get her in the bathroom to breathe the steam. A sink with running hot water lets off steam and she can bend over and breathe the steam from there as well. If it is a matter of her tonsils being overly large or swollen, you can tilt the head back and lift the chin up like you are going to do mouth to mouth, this will open the air passage way. If she is throwing up, it is important to get water back into the body and to rub her back to talk in a calm voice and tell her its ok. Have her tonsils checked, she may need them removed.

Thanks for reading & stuff, but I didn't ask about what to do when she has ANOTHER asthma attack, I asked about my sister. Thanks for your advice though, but you didn't answer my question.
