I have a 10 gallon tank and I have 6 fish. Little ones. I know that the perfect temperature to have in the tank is 74/76 degrees. Right now, since it's so hot where I am, it's up to 80. I've tried everything to get the temperature to go down to normal, icecubes, removing warm water and adding cold. The temperature will go down for a few minutes then it just shoots right back up! I have two questions: 1) Does anyone have any other ideas on keeping the tank cool other than what I've been trying? and 2) Is 80 degrees DANGEROUSLY high for my fish? They are regular fresh water tropical fish. I have 2 Neon Tetras, an Angelfish, a Honey Gourami and 2 Zebra Danios, if that helps any. Thanks in advance! (link)
i used to have fish and i had the same problem because i live in a very hot place too. at our pet store, they had a water temperature monitor and you set what temperature you want the water to be, then if it gets off, it adds cool/warm water to the tank so it goes back to the correct temperature. but if you're pet store doesn't have that, i'm sure five degrees wouldn't matter much. after all they are tropical fish and have the immune system to stand warm water. if that doesn't work and the fish react to the warm water, go find a fish that can live in 80 degree water, i don't know else to tell you! i hope i've helped.

love/advice always,
carly

Thanks for the advice. Do you know what that water temperature monitor is called what company makes it? It sounds like a great product to have!
