You should first start talking to him online or on the phone since you rarely see him. Then once you feel comfortable and once he has shown some interest in you, tell him straight forward. If you are shy with guys, like we are, then hint it to him by flirting and making it really obvious that you are interested in him. After that goes on for a while, bring up your friend and ask him if she ever told him anything...maybe having to do with you. He should get the hint!
