Q: Hey you answered another one of my questions about anorexia really well so I decided to ask you another... this one is the same exept about bulimia.
How is bulimia bad for you? Since you do actually EAT the food when you are bulimic, doesnt your body have time to take in the needed nutrients? Or at least some? What is the physical or mental harm it can do to you? Thankz soo much!!
btw-im not asking these ?s becuase i am or am thinking of becoming anorexic or bulimic, i have a couple friends who are and I'd like to get some good points so I know how to convince them not to anymore. Thankz again!
I'll try, I can't guarantee you that I can give you as many answers though.

You do eat the food, but bulimics usually tend to throw up RIGHT after they eat before the body can start digesting the food so your body doesn't actually gain anything at all. Bulimic in a way is easier to conceal than anorexia, because a person does eat at meals and doesn't call attention to one self. While throwing up, the bathroom is a private place and usually no one is there to witness you throw up and therefore doesn't know about your eating problem.

When you are a bulimic, there are many physical symptoms which will soon show after you have thrown up on purpose a few times. In order to throw up, your body needs the strength to force the food back up out of the bodya nd defy gravity, this requires energy, or calories. Take note that the body is not receiving any calories at all, so the body will be tired a lot faster than if you're anorexic. When you throw up, the stomach acid comes along from the food and it harms your throat. Doing it frequently causes a sore throat, bad breath because the acid is harming your teeth and all the germs are in there, and swollen neck glands from all the throwing up. The rest of the symptoms are like anorexias'.

Don't worry I'm not about to accuse you of anything, good luck with your friends. Worse comes to worse always seek help from an adult you trust, I know this sounds corny but it's the best way out and don't worry it's better to save your friend and have them hate you for life than to not and know that there was something you can do when it's way too late to regret about it. Good luck.=]

Thanx again for your help!
