Hey. I been dancing since I was 4ish-7ish but then I quit. I started going street/Hip-hop lessons now since April. I have a few dance videos but I still cant keep up with them or my dance school! Everyone else is prancing around memorizing all the moves when there is me forgetting the moves and really slow!! I'm not sure how to remember the moves and speed up! Any tips? And yes i do concentrate as hard as I can but i forgot them all even after 2 minutes! Thanks if you can help x (link)

yeah, once you quit dancing it's kind of hard to pick it back up. i've been dancing since i was 3 so i know exactly what you're talking about. i say work on ONE dance at a time, then you concentrate on it more and just get your mind set on it. taking notes sometimes works good for people too. keep a journal with you every 8 count or so mark something down to help you remember. i use shorthand so it's faster. if you still need help after memorizing it and writing it down, ask the teacher if you could bring in a casset tape or a cd so she could copy the music to it. a lot of times when i'm trying to practice dances at home, i can't really remember. but once i hear the music it kinda jogs my memory. and i usually dance a lot, i practice all my dances when i first wake up (so i won't be sleepy, which is another plus) when i get home from school, then i usually have dance later on in the day, then i do it right before i go to bed. that way through out the day i know i don't forget it and it stays fresh in my mind. and if all of THAT doesn't work, i'd say ask your teacher if you could come to any more classes so she can personally help you.
as far as the other dancers, forget them. all they do is intemidate you and watching someone else can also make you mess up or forget something. don't be so hard on yourself, i bet you do great! everyone learns at a slower pace than everyone else so it's totally okay! you have to work harder for what you want, but that means in the end all of your hard work will put you at top and hopefully in time you'll become even or surpass the other girls in your class! good luck! let me know how things go!
love/advice always,
