Q: Hi, I am a freshman in Hight School and I am doing track, short distances and hurdles. I was wondering if anyone knew some good tips or anything about this. and i am also having a hard time with hurdles, so does anyone know, or has anyone does hurdles, and can give me some good pointers? My coaches help, but I know that i am not good enough for our first meet in 2 weeks do do hurdles.
Also, I get cramps in my kneck when i run. ANyone know how to solve this?
Lastly- Any good streatches for hurdlers and sprinters??
Thanks soo Much!!!

When I was in high school track, I did shot put, 100 meter dash, and hurdles. I actually found hurdles pretty easy, I'm just a stocky person and not built for running very fast. I think that I found them easy because of the karate I have taken. All those kicks keep my leg, hip, and groin muscles very limber. I recommend that you do stretches and excercises for those areas of your body. The same goes for your neck. Stretch your neck out throroughly before beginning any strenuous activity. Make sure you aren't clenching your jaw when you excercise. A lot of people do this and it can lead to headaches and neck pain. Also, in regards to hurdles, I'm sure your coaches already told you, but make sure you aren't jumping too high. The closer you are to the hurdles without contacting them, the better. It will help your speed. Good luck!
