That's a bit of a streach don't you think eight years but if you want to and really like that guy by all means, just make sure you know the guy pretty well before going out with him, all thoses saftey issues and all. but just really get a hold on thigs before you run off with him on a date and such, feel comfortable around.
also it may work in the long shot so if you like him go for it if you don't dump him fast.
