I have two horses that are the BEST of friends. You can't take one out of the pen without the other. They are stuck like glue, but one is 42 years old! really he is! and the other is at least 30. When one passes away, do you think we should put the other one down? I mean they are both already really old and I know that one would be in MISERY without the other. Just getting an idea if the event might arise. (link)

I hate to sound like a geek, but in the story "where the red fern grows" its about 2 hunter dogs who are also best friends. and when one died from being attacked, the other dog died of a broken heart. So maybe that could happend to your horses. I hope they stay healthy though! :)
