I am a musician and a writer. I love to listen to people, and I love quotes.(As you will see.) I plan on majoring in English, and I wish to work in the advertisement industry. I would also like to become a child psychologist. I live out in a rural area, and have horses, cats, dogs, gerbils, fish, and goats. I love being outdoors, and observing people.

Anyone have any suggestions on playing wind instruments comfortably with braces? (link)
Tenor Sax player right here!

Yes, I went through the braces years. Fun, eh?
Well, my advice would be to adjust your embochure to find the most comfortable way for you to play. It helps if you re-adjust every time you get your braces tightened, so be prepared to take your instrument home. It's not always a bad thing- sometimes, adjusting your embochure enhances your tone quality- and you'll get so used to playing in different ways that you'll be able to produce a wider range of tones. As in, it will increase your ability to play high and low notes, as well as the tone differences (bright/dark) Email me if you have any more questions- check my Column (blue_exodus)
By the way- stay with band! I don't know what grade you're in, but it will become the greatest experience of your life- especially marching band. It may sound dorky, but it's not. I've never met a "band dork" that would stab you in the back, or make fun of you because you're different! Band is like a family, and we all love each other!

Thanks! I played tenor in jazz band this year. I didn't really like it though. I just got my braces a little over a week ago. I'm multi-talented, and I can't really play that well. I've been trying to play flute and alto sax, not really any luck. I don't know how else to form my embochure, other than what I was taught. And I plan to stay in band, music is my life. I want to pursue a career in music of some sort after high school. I'm gonna be a sophomore this fall.
