ok, I have always heard that the air conditioner uses more gas when turned on. Is this true? Does the heater also use more gas? I turned my heater on one morning last week (yeah, middle of summer and i need the heater... maine sucks ass) and I noticed the rpm meter move up a bit when I did, and went down a bit when i turned it back off. This was all while I was still parked in my driveway.
I was also wondering if Cruise control uses less, more, or just the same amount of gas if it's turned on or off.
Is there anything else that uses slightly more gas turned on when I'm driving? (link)

cruise control actually saves gas. some people have a 'lead foot' in which they sometimes press too hard on the gas while its moving.. others have 'feather foot' and they lighten up on the gas pedal so it goes slower. cruise lets you go the same speed without your foot on the petal.
hmm, about the AC and heater, yes i do believe they use more gas, but not THAT much. Not enough to complain about or to turn your heater/AC off.
