My name is Mellie (Mel to anyone who knows me) and I'm 15 years old (a freshman-going-on-sophomore in high school).
A lot of people tell me I'm a really outgoing person, and I'm sometimes embarrassed to agree. :) I have some of the best friends a girl could ask for, and have had an amazing boyfriend since January 1, 2009.
I've been through a lot and learned from my mistakes, and I hope that I can help other people by sharing what I've learned.
Don't hesitate to ask about ANYTHING.
I'm here!

i have a test on friday about DNA and RNA etc and ive done most of my guide but the only problem im having is with transcription
i wrote down exactly what was written in the book, but now i printed this worksheet we got so that i could add the steps in to the pictures but they seem not to fit!
This is what I wrote from my book;
1. RNA polymerase binds to promoter. When RNA polymerase binds to a promoter, the DNA molecule in that region separates. Only one of the separated DNA chains, called the template, is used for transcription
2. RNA polymerase attaches to the first DNA nucleotide of the template chains, then begins adding completementary RNA nucleotides to the newly forming RNA molecule (base-paring rules the same, except URACIL pairs with ADENINE).
3. Transcription continues until RNA polymerase reaches termination sequence. RNA polymerase releases both the DNA molecule and the newly formed RNA molecule.
4. Products of transcription (transcripts) are the different types of RNA molecules. Even though instructions for making a protein are copied from DNA into mRNA, all are involved in synthesis of proteins. After transcription, mRNA moves through the pores of the nuclear membrane into the cytosol of the cell, where it will direct the synthesis of proteins.
but then the worksheet has stuff about enhancers and activators and general coding sequences
im so confused...
email me =D
