hi, i was married for 21 years. i was a stay @ home mother for that time, home schooled our children 2 boys @ home 15 and 11. he was an abusive man @ times, very abusive. through out our marriage he would leave and come back, leave and come back... well, he ran off about 2 years ago, come to find out, he was seeing another woman. when he left, i was devestated. i had a nervous breakdown last january, but am doing good and am in school to be a nurse... i tried dating about 8 months after he left, but i figured out that i'm just not ready for that. anyway, i do have a lawyer and he's been good, but there are still some unanswered questions. we went to our first court date and the judge gave temp orders for my husband to pay child support, all...

Awkward with guy friends

I've always had tons of close girl friends and I am really shy and people always tease me about liking this boy, that boy, that I feel awkward with guys. Lately though, there's this guy who I'm kind of friends with. He's very calm, cool, funny and kind. I really want to be close friends with him and hang out with him more. How do I do that without him thinking that I like him? Coz I really just want to be closer friends with him, and I don't have a crush on him or anything. I've never had any close guy friends bfore so how do I make this not awkward?

I'm from PNG, in yr.12 and I'm the top student in my class. My closest comp. is a boy. He told me he had a crush on me and I liked him too but I turned him down because he is my Academic Enenmy. He waited for 6 months, when assesment closed, I decided it was safe to give it a go. I dumped him 2 weeks later. He is in love with me and now wants to change his Uni choice to be with me!he loves me and waited all this time, but I do not love him. I couldn't tell him directly, so perhaps I'v been leading him on. But he cannot change his Uni choice, we're not even together anymore. i never had a sweet 16, but i am planning to have a sweet 18 for my legal birthday. But im curious. I dont really want to make 18 people write a speech for me. Id rather write speeches for 18 people that mean the most to me... like a sweet 16 candle ceremony. Can i do that? Or do i have to choose 18 people to say something about me?

I'm a freshman in college and it's only the 6th week of school. I have several people that I'm friends with and hang out with but it's kind of scattered. I don't really have like, a defined group. It's weird over the weekends because I like to go to parties but I don't have a big group of friends to go out with, just like a couple of people. I want to make more friends, but how? Of course there's the cliche suggestion to join clubs and I do that of course, but there haven't been many events and I feel like you kind of just make aquaintances in those environments. I don't know, it just feels weird that I only have like 4 or 5 friends that I hang out with. Is this normal? Any suggestions and especially stories of real life experiences would be appreciated=) thanks

18/Female. Ok, sorry if this is long but i need advice. ok, i decided i wanted to go to college next year, and moved out and got an apartment for the year. self conscious

on the inside, i am an insecure person. people who really truly know me know that, many do not. i am constantly saying negative things about myself. people think that im doing it to get positive feedback and responses. to me, ive always put myself down since i can remember. the only reason i do it is because it makes me feel comfortable to point out my flaws before someone else has time to criticize them. how can i try to control myself from saying these things. its basically a reflex at this point. and i have been working on my insecurities over the years, and although they have dwindled, when it comes down to it, i am just a self conscious person at my core. basically, i just need some advice. how do i stop myself from criticizing myself openly? how can i ever really like myself? thanks

So at my new job I became friends with this lady. She's about 40, and I'm 18. Anyways, she invited me to her birthday party along with several of my supervisors and bosses. She really wants me to go, but I think it would be inappropriate for me to go because all the people that are going are much older, not to mention, my bosses. Especially since they would all be drinking and I wouldn't be. I know she would be disappointed if I didn't go.
So what should I do? Do I go to make her happy or do I not go?

This girl I'm friends with started calling me her "bestie" today at lunch. She said something like "You know what, Bestie? You're the greatest." I don't really know what that means? What does it mean when somebody calls you their bestie? Or besty, maybe? I don't know?

Okay. I'm going to try and make this brief. My bestfriend and my boyfriend have never gotten along. Ever. i spend alot of time with my bf i admit, but i spend the equal amount of time with my bestie.
shes getting clingy though, hates my boyfriend ( and everyone i have dated in the past), hates my friends, and always wants to be alone with me. it was always me her and another girl but resently the other girl left are school so its me and her.
i spend most my school time with the guys as my bf is always busy on the weekends so its the only time we hang, so my friend thinks im ditching her wtf.
