"ref." ?

Posted Sunday February 3 2008, 1:52 pm

I'm trying to correct a book-analysis that I got back, and in it I wrote "He is given a second chance, when a butcher accidentally saves him, and manages to find enthusiasm for life."

Now next to this sentence my teacher wrote "ref." and marked the space in between "and" and "manages" (i hope that makes sense for you guys, haha!)

Now I think she means a word is missing between those two words, and I guess spontantiously I would add "then" there.. but since she said "ref" which Im guessing stands for "reference" I think she might mean that I should add "he" or "Archie" (which is his name)

What do you think it...

this one teacher i have is incredibly mean to me. hes always picking on me, ever since he found out that i was considering dropping his class. so i stayed in it, because it was hard to get out of. anyways, he really pushed me over the edge today. and made me to the point, where i almsot cried. i never cry. espically in school. anyways, we were suppose to get out of classes by last monday. but, this is an elective. so, do you think i'll beable to get out of it? i just want to put a study hall in its place. i hate him. if i stay in it, i'm gonna skip it. i refuse to walk into his class, and keep getting insulted. do you think the guidance conselor will let me out?

LUNCH CROWD

Posted Tuesday January 29 2008, 7:04 pm

I sit with some of my friends during lunch that I have known for over 10 years and now there is this one guy who has started sitting with us and he kinda creeps me and my friends out. I had one class with him last semester and 2 of my guy friends we sit with kinda knew him from football and he is a grade ahead of us so we really don't know him and he really doesn't know us. He said he was going to sit with us because he didn't know anyone else in that lunch period since it was mostly a freshman lunch and he is a sophmore. He creeps us out and is really annoying. We have jokingly told him to go sit somewhere else and kinda been hinting that we don't really want him to sit with us, but he isn't really getting it. How can we nicely tell him we...

suggestions on helping to improve grades

Posted Tuesday January 29 2008, 4:38 pm

My daughter is in the third grade. We have been having problems the past few years getting her to do good work. Her grades are slipping farther and farther down.

We have tried to work with her with her studies. We have made notecards for her to study. We have also gone through everything with her. We have made flash cards to learn math. She just doesn't do the work at school.

I can't afford to take her to specialty "tutoring" schools. I have tried contacting the local school board about tutors that can help her with her studies. I have done everything imaginable to get her on the right track, but nothing seems to work.

My questions are: how do I help her to get her grades back up? How ...

End of Summer holidays.

Posted Tuesday January 29 2008, 3:27 am

So in Australia it's summer, and tomorrow is my last day of summer holidays.

I suggested to my weekend group (I have my school friends who I never see outside of school, I NEVER hang out with them because it would be awkward and we're not really very close, so what I was suggesting to the weekend group, don't say to do it with these people because I'd rather be misrable the whole day) that we hang out to celebrate the end. However my weekend group all start school tomorrow.

So I was wondering, what are some small things to do? I'm looking at a day inside, so don't go suggesting go outside and do things by myself. I'm not expecting a magnificent answer, even something simple like "read your favourite book&q...

Hello! I'm on my school's student council- and our Winterfest week is coming up. My committee is "Spirit Week" so we have to come up with some spirit days. We have 3 right now and we need 5 total.
I'm not asking you to do my job, but we just have no idea for anymore, and we've been trying to think. We just need some inspiration =].
